Does anyone STUDY fiction like I do? People read; I get that. But I was trained academically to dissect stories and prose and literature. And this has become the governing mood of my mind. I read excessively. There were years when I was studying poetry and I would note the weird words I saw in each verse and list them alphabetically to include them in my own poems. I was that obsessive for a while.
Currently, I am rereading fairy tales and folklore cause I am trying to instill the diligence of writing flash fiction as what I used to do in 2011. Been writing since '91 from diaries to poetic prose to poems to flash fiction. I am familiar with utilizing the most mundane day and turn it literary. But, I am not as well-trained in producing plausible characters and plots. This is something I am still figuring out.
I wish to converse with those who also find writing a cathartic process that can feel somewhat mind-altering. Do you also dwell in the Abyss?
