I'm a 34 year-old female from Turkey. I'm currently doing my PhD in Architectural History and work as a teaching assistant.
Due to my work and routine, I often feel lonely and isolated. I feel the need of some company to share my ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc. In real life I know so many people; but, when it comes to hanging out with them, there are only a few people to whom I feel close enough. I can say that I'm a pretty serious, calm, reserved and responsible person, maybe even shy at first. I still can be friendly though, under the favorable circumstances as I also lean towards introversion.
I think it is safe to say that what I am really looking for goes beyond a penpal. I hope to meet somebody who is willing to be completely honest. I would like to talk about almost anything to get to know the other party. In this case, minds alike will play the vital role. The other party should be like me. For instance, I am usually online. I'm at that point in my life where I'm certain it's the home stretch. The grey strands of facial hair, the ability to sleep late but still somehow wake up early.
I reflect upon what I have achieved, and realise how insignificant it all really is. So I strive to do more... to become more. The more I become, the more I realise how much I am lacking still.
I wanted so much more, I wanted financial freedom, I wanted to travel, I wanted I wanted I wanted. There comes this turning point however, when you realise how shallow those 'wants' are, and embrace the value of giving more. Have you given? It's not just your wealth or material possessions, it's your time. Time is the most valuable commodity. Giving time as a sacrifice towards another, or a bigger purpose, a greater objective... That's (in my humble opinion) the most valuable and constructive use of our breaths on this Earth.
It's all about time.
Queue covid... and with it's lockdowns and complete overhaul of our lifestyles, time is ample. and yet... I procrastinate still.
Not even certain why I'm writing here, would you like to procrastinate and use more of our times in futile meaningless banter?
Perhaps thats the human thing to do after all.
