Penpal message / wishes:
I'm 43 years old. I'm looking for people who are passionate and enthusiastic about music, live theatre, cinema, museums, reading, and writing.
I'm looking especially for artists, musicians, writers, researchers, and engineers.
I'm against mainstream pop culture. I love and support the underground music scene and live theatre. I appreciate the musicians who cross genres and experiment with sounds. I like people who don't limit themselves to a music genre and avoid generic classification.
For me, music is a reason to live and a protective mechanism of anchoring and distraction as well as a cathartic therapy. It's a life-saving defence mechanism that provides enjoyment and emotional security, and makes life bearable, but it limits the sense of freedom.
I like electronic/folk/gothic/industrial/instrumental/progressive/psychedelic/punk/shoegaze/space/stoner rock, post-rock, black/doom/folk/gothic/industrial/instrumental/neoclassical/power/progressive/sludge/symphonic/synth metal, post-metal, dark wave, synthwave, cold wave, dark ambient, space ambient, dungeon synth, synthpop, indie folk, indie pop, blues, dream pop, neofolk, EBM, aggrotech, witch house, IDM, chillwave, vaporwave, drone, dub, grime, minimal, experimental, soundtracks, world, jazz, classical music, and musicals.
I recently got a lot into techno and IDM, and currently explore the releases of Warp Records, a legendary electronic London-based record label that signed Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Autechre, Squarepusher, LFO, and Brian Eno, to name but a few.
I recommend checking out Toby Driver from New York and his band Kayo Dot (genre avant goth, progressive experimental doom, abstract electroacoustic, mondern composition). Really interesting stuff!
This is for all my past, present, and future harassers and haters. All the very best out there! :-) Converge live especially for them. As noisy, harsh, chaotic, and dissonant as it can get!
