Penpal message / wishes: Meet Jay – The Nerdy Geek Who Writes Too Much and Questions Everything
So… how does one even start this? Should I go with a dramatic monologue, a TED Talk, or just wing it? Because let’s be real—I have zero clue what I’m doing. But hey, if you’re reading this, I must be doing something right.
I’m Jay, an 21-year-old human (allegedly) from Kenya, currently navigating the wild terrain of being a CS junior at Stanford. I spend most of my time staring at my laptop, convincing myself that debugging in Rust is a good life choice (it’s not), and wondering if sleep is just a social construct.
I was raised in a ridiculously snobbish part of Kenya, where people judge you based on whether your family vacationed in Paris or just London last summer. But me? I prefer the digital world—where I can build things, break them, and pretend I meant to do that.
Things That Make Me Tick (Or Short-Circuit)
Programming in Rust (because Python was too easy, and I clearly enjoy pain)
Books & Podcasts (Audible owns my soul, and Wondery feeds my curiosity)
Gaming (If the universe ever needs saving, I volunteer—virtually, of course. Commander Shepard is my idol.)
Art & Writing (Mostly to distract myself from the fact that my code isn’t compiling.)
Music & Lyrics (I can and will analyze song lyrics like they’re ancient prophecy.)
Random Science Facts (Did you know that octopuses have three hearts and blue blood? Now you do.)
Personality? A Mix of Sarcasm, Existential Dread & Ambition
I like long emails—the kind where we start talking about one thing and suddenly we’re knee-deep in a discussion about black holes, the meaning of life, and whether Pluto deserves justice. (Spoiler: It does.)
I’m also a firm believer in tech shaping the future, and I may or may not be plotting my inevitable takeover of Silicon Valley. My future business empire? Think serverless computing, Rust-powered AI, and generally making machines do the work for us. My friend Steve Klabnik (yes, the Rust guru himself) knows just how weird I am, and if he can tolerate me, so can you.
What I’m Looking For
I want a penpal who actually enjoys writing. Not the type who sends two messages and vanishes into the void, leaving me wondering if they got abducted by aliens (which, to be fair, would be cool).
If you like discussing science, tech, philosophy, or just ranting about life in general, we’ll get along just fine. IMs and snail mail work too, but let’s start with emails.
Languages I Speak
English (native)
French (fluent)
German (working on it, so be patient)
Spanish (I’m trying, okay?)
The Fine Print
Age Limit: 18-24 (If you’re older, sorry, I won’t respond—nothing personal, just my preference.)
Be a Decent Human (No racists, homophobes, or scam artists—this isn’t Craigslist.)
No Sketchy Stuff (If your first message is weird, you’re getting blocked faster than my code crashes.)
If you’ve made it this far and haven’t decided to close this tab in horror, congrats! You might just be cool enough to be my future best friend—or maybe even my future GF. 😉

Now go on, **send me an email—**before I get distracted by another rabbit hole of science videos.

Penpal message / wishes: Hello future penpals! I'm a passionate reader who finds joy in exploring diverse genres. When I'm not immersed in books, I express myself through music—I play the flute and love to sing. I'm on the lookout for penpals who share a love for literature, music, or perhaps both! I’m also a devoted cat lover.Let's exchange stories, discuss our favorite books, and maybe even share some tunes. Seeking kindred spirits who share the joy of reading, the magic of music, and the warmth that only furry friends can bring.
